We need more investment in the northern suburbs of Darebin. This means fighting to redevelop the Reservoir Leisure Centre so that it meets the current and future needs of our growing community.
Building a new 50m Pool
Residents in the northern suburbs of Darebin deserve access to a high quality leisure and recreational centre which includes a 50m swimming pool.
Our Council has just spent $63 million on the Northcote Aquatic Recreational Centre, and based on the Development Contributions Plan, our council has allocated only $15 million for the redevelopment of the Reservoir Leisure Centre, with construction expected to start in 2023. This needs to change.
If elected as your Councillor I will fight to redevelop the Reservoir Leisure Centre and prioritise it as a key infrastructure project. I will talk with the community to understand what you want and aim to ensure that the new centre works for generations to come.
Given the current financial situation of the Council, I will also advocate to the State and Federal government for more funding to invest in the redevelopment of the Reservoir Leisure Centre.
